Show Voice Options Premier Dr Ramathuba Appoints Heads of Department for Education, Agriculture and Social Development Following the meeting of the Executive Council on 16 July 2025, the Premier of Limpopo, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, has appointed new heads of department for Education, Agriculture and Social Development. Mr Maropene Veniel Seshibe has been appointed as Head and Accounting OOicer of the Department of Education, eOective from 01 August 2025 for a term of five years, concluding on 31 July 2030. Ms Thembeni Elphie Mhlongo has been appointed as Head and Accounting OOicer of the Department of Social Development eOective from 01 August 2025 for a term of five years, concluding on 31 July 2030. Ms Mpho Abigail Mashamba has been appointed as Head and Accounting OOicer of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development eOective from 01 August 2025 for a term of five years, concluding on 31 July 2030. Premier Dr Ramathuba expressed satisfaction with these appointments, filling longstanding vacancies. She stated: “We are pleased that we have been able to conclude this part, particularly that we needed to get the best suitable candidates for the job at hand. The province requires administrative leadership that is agile and sensitive to current needs. We need to harness their expertise to change the province's outlook, grow the economy, create jobs and address the high cost of living.” Furthermore, Premier Dr Ramathuba highlighted the importance of gender balance in these appointments. “We are pleased with the gender balance that we see so far. The onus is on these individuals to demonstrate they are equal to the task, as they will receive the best political support that we can oOer.” The Executive Council is expected to finalise the appointment of the Head of Department of Health within the next two weeks, while interviews for the Head of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture will conclude by August 2025.
