A Journey of Academic and Professional Excellence Born on January 2, 1983, in the village of Madibe-Makgabane which is part of the Mahikeng Local Municpality, Motsumi’s journey is one of dedication and intellectual pursuit. Her academic credentials are nothing short of remarkable : holding a B.Sc. in Physics, a PGCE( postgraduate certificate in education), a BSc Honours in Microbiology, and an MBA from North-West University. Before stepping into the political arena, she served as a teacher, shaping young minds and fostering a culture of knowledge and empowerment. As a young brilliant mind at the age of 10 years old at the dawn of a democratic South Africa she already was aware of the 300 years of subjugation and humiliation her people were subjected to and she intended to make a difference. Political Leadership and Impact Motsumi’s political career took a significant leap in May 2019, when she was elected as a Member of the North West Provincial Legislature. In the same year, she made history by becoming South Africa’s youngest deputy speaker. Her leadership trajectory continued to ascend when she was appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education in November 2022, a role she retained following her reappointment in June 2024. Her tenure as MEC has been marked by bold interventions in the education sector, including addressing learner transport challenges and advocating for inclusive education. One of her most notable contributions has been laying the groundwork for delivering efficient and seamless Matric Examinations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and improved management for future generations. This will be one of her most enduring legacies when she most certainly move towards a national deployment.
