The Deputy Minister emphasised that compliance with labour laws, quality standards and regulatory requirements is fundamental to ensuring a viable and ethical manufacturing sector.Officials said inspections and investigations have identified a number of facilities that may be operating outside prescribed legal and safety frameworks, prompting calls for corrective action and potential sanctions where breaches are confirmed. The initiative forms part of a coordinated effort by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition to safeguard industry integrity, promote competitive markets and ensure that manufacturers contribute positively to the economy.From a business and economic perspective, ensuring compliance within the garment and textile sector is critical in strengthening investor confidence, improving product quality and protecting jobs.
