This initiative was announced by Premier Lazarus Kagiso Mokgosi during his State of the Province Address (SOPA) at the provincial legislature. The fund is designed to drive industrialisation, attract investments, and support the full implementation of the Provincial Growth and Development Strategy. Premier Mokgosi emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and the private sector to achieve inclusive economic growth. He highlighted the establishment of a Regional Research, Innovation, and Development Office, coordinated by the Office of the Premier, focusing on Science, Technology, and Engineering. This office aims to foster innovation and research-driven development in the province.
